Oldcastle Theatre Company will present their Annual Holiday Variety Show online December 19–22.
The evening will include performances of some of your favorite holiday songs to get you into the spirit of the season as well as the world premiere of a series of hilarious and heart-warming sketches called “A Covid Christmas” by long-time Oldcastle favorite, Christine Decker.
Decker was inspired to write “A Covid Christmas” in response to the difficult year we’ve all shared. “This holiday season is certainly unique,” says Decker, “I wanted to write a piece that reflects that uncertainty.” The sketches celebrate the challenges we’ve all experienced this year, like figuring out how Zoom works, navigating family relationships with differing political views, and might just include a visit from a familiar and beloved holiday figure!
“It’s certainly been an unforgettable year,” says Oldcastle Artistic Director, Nathan Stith, “and we wanted to find a way to bring a little holiday joy to our patrons by continuing the tradition of our Holiday Variety Show.” The virtual performance will serve as a fundraiser for Oldcastle’s 2021 summer season and 100% of the proceeds will go towards ensuring a full season of professional theatre in downtown Bennington next summer.
In addition to the sketch comedy by Christine Decker, the evening will include performances from a host of Oldcastle regulars including Paul Romero, Richard Howe, Natalie Wilder, Patrick Ellison Shea, Trudi Posey, Bob Zanfini, and many more! Tickets for online show are $20.00 per household and can be purchased online at oldcastletheatre.org/tickets
